Profitable quartet of winners yesterday, along with a $16 cold Double & a $7 cold Quinella.

Please visit the Old Friends at Cabin Creek website ( by clicking the image to the left ) and consider helping out, as every little bit counts! I want to thank those that read my column, and have recently opened up accounts as a result of their fondness for what they see here. If you have any questions at any time, you can reach me on Twitter @brooklyncowboy1.

I'd like to leave this bit of info here for y'all. When we're using the DRF Formulator platform while writing our columns, if we say "Sprints", for the most part we mean any one turn race, and when we say "Routes", we mean any TWO turn race. ( For example, we consider a 1 1/8th mile race at Belmont an elongated sprint, and a 6 1/2 furlong race at a Charles Town a route. ) We feel this way, because in our eyes, it's the number of turns that necessitate more energy than being relaxed on a straightaway. Sometimes the sample size for our study can be too large to manually break down, so there may be a few from one category in another, but usually the end result is pretty much the same. Additionally, when it comes to layoffs, we consider more than 50 days in a dirt to dirt scenario a layoff, more than 58 days in D to T or T to D a layoff, and more than 67 days in a turf to turf deal a L/O. Furthermore, if we amend our selections for a wet track, and the track becomes fast, our original selections are in play.

Race 1 1st -Devilly 2nd -Lockbox 3rd -Roja Ligera

Kudos to Jimmy Ferraro for leading #4 DEVILLY into the winner's circle for the first time in 1 1/2 years, and said score brings this gal's local ledger to 2 for 9, which stands out quite favorably to her oh-fer-23 mark otherwise. Gal lands in a softish spot for today's obligatory hike in class, and a repeat is well within reach. #3 LOCKBOX finds herself at her lowest level to date, and has partaken in the superfecta both times with this jock aboard. #1 ROJA LIGERA was victorious the only time she loaded first and drops in class today.

Race 2 1st -Smokin' Hot Kitty 2nd -Shopthereitis 3rd -Shigeko

#3 SMOKIN' HOT KITTY has hit the board in three straight ( all right here ), and will be brought over by De Paz, who nearly doubles his normative 16% batting average when it comes to his locally based mid level sand stock at this level who crashed the party less than 41 days in the rear. He's 3 for 10 in that regards, and the winners came back $7, $8 & $10. #6 SHOOPTHEREITIS is 2:1-1-0 when breaking from the outermost two slots, and is confidently moved up the latter despite the recent mediocre effort. #4 SHIGEKO found the line first the last time she had a "For Sale" sticker attached to her tooshie, and we see she's 9:2-2-1 at today's dist., and 6:0-0-0 @ other trips.

Race 3 1st -Arco Augusta 2nd -Hair On Fire 3rd -Savage Spirit

#4 ARCO AUGUSTA has ( for this allotment ) a decent collection of speed figures, and gets an upgrade in the jockey department. Meeeeeeeek selection. #6 HAIR ON FIRE is showing a nice little "Z" pattern from the most recent ( lost six lengths from the quarter to the top of the stretch, before gaining back 3 1/2 from that point to the line ), and as he improved from his first fast track start to the next, who knows where his ceiling is. #3 SAVAGE SPIRIT has been beset by back to back layoff lines, but is second time Lasix today and hit the board the only time he was up for grabs.

Race 4 1st -Midlaner 2nd -Beachwalker 3rd -Ouster

#3 MIDLANER is a fairly steady sort, and grey gelding is undoubtedly in the best form of his life these days. We like his ability to send or rate, and is a slight choice in a heat with but one first draft elimination. #1 BEACHWALKER was a going away winner when tangling with what we would consider to be a tougher grouping on the first of the month, and aside from being 4:2-1-0 when entering the starting apparatus first, has done his best work at today's distance of ground ( 3 of 7 ). #6 OUSTER hasn't been seen since Toga Time, but closed out the triple in his one start off the pine, and positively digs the local seagulls, as his 5:2-2-1 mark here belies.

Race 5 1st -Barnstorming 2nd -Independent Hall 3rd -South Street

#3 BARNSTORMING played the fade last time out, but finds himself in an easier spot this afternoon, and will be led over by ADAM Rice, as LINDA Rice is currently serving another suspension. Hum drum pick in an uninspiring affair. #6 INDEPENDENT HALL was in the rear with the gear when facing winners for the 1st time, but that's never an easy spot, and jock sticks around for today's third start off a sabbatical. #2 SOUTH STREET has hit the board in 4 of his last 5 one turn events, and gets blinkers for the first time in this, his 21st afternoon trek to the frontside.

Race 6 1st -Miss Harriett 2nd -Ghalia Princess 3rd -Reconcile

#4 MISS HARRIETT has gone all the way in three of four career outings ( with the lone blemish coming directly before a break ), and they'll likely have to grab her by the tail to get the glory once again. #1 GHALIA PRINCESS showed a bit of improvement when going up against winnahs last out, and the sky's the limit with this one. #5 RECONCILE got smacked around a bit in the last, but draws much better now, and owns ( "Owwwwwwnssss, owwwwnsssss." ) a win over the strip.

Race 7 1st -Liberty Flame 2nd -Ghostbustin 3rd -Mouly

#3 LIBERTY ( Bibbity ) FLAME has already paid dividends after being snagged for a dime two starts back, as she showed in a near identical spot a fortnight back, and that brought her Queens mark up to 11:3-1-3. Looking live once again. #1 GHOSTBUSTIN ( who should be no worse than 2nd for all you place punters out there ) has lost ground in the lane over her last pair, and has eye cups added today in hopes of stretching out her speed a little bit farther. Gal has some positive experience when drawing the rail, and will be on the choo choo early. #4 MOULY was a going away winner vs. starter competition last month, but as she's better over a wet surface, may regress a bit should the track be labeled FST.

Race 8 1st -Skylander 2nd -Gentleman Joe 3rd -American Law

#4 SKYLANDER hasn't shown a whole heck of a lot since returning from a four month freshening, but likely needed the return, and maybe the slop wasn't to her liking in the followup. The good news is that he has a $12 win & a 12-1 3rd place finish in both "3rd off the absence" jammies, and gelding has also done okay at this dx.. #2 GENTLEMAN JOE has been kept in jail since being bought in January, but despite multiple breaks in the action, has ascended the BSF ladder over his last quintet. Chap has won both dirt engagements after being away, and can't fault those taking a favorable view. #6 AMERICAN LAW has broken out of his nibbling ways ( 19:1-9-5 ) with wins in two of his last three, & really digs it here.  NOTE: AS OF 12:44, DUE TO A LATE SCRATCH, THE #7 WILL BE OUR 3RD SELECTION.
