Nice day for us here yesterday, with a profitable Grand Slam ( $15, $6 x 2 & $4 ) and a $22 Cold Double.
We are now guaranteed a flat bet profit until at least the 2nd race NEXT Friday.
Today's Beatable Favorite(s): Race 6 - #10 Brindi ( Ire )
Please visit the Old Friends at Cabin Creek website ( by clicking the image to the left ) and consider helping out, as every little bit counts! I want to thank those that read my column, and have recently opened up accounts as a result of their fondness for what they see here. If you have any questions at any time, you can reach me on Twitter @brooklyncowboy1.
I'd like to leave this bit of info here for y'all. When we're using the DRF Formulator platform while writing our columns, if we say "Sprints", for the most part we mean any one turn race, and when we say "Routes", we mean any TWO turn race. ( For example, we consider a 1 1/8th mile race at Belmont an elongated sprint, and a 6 1/2 furlong race at a Charles Town a route. ) We feel this way, because in our eyes, it's the number of turns that necessitate more energy than being relaxed on a straightaway. Sometimes the sample size for our study can be too large to manually break down, so there may be a few from one category in another, but usually the end result is pretty much the same. Additionally, when it comes to layoffs, we consider more than 50 days in a dirt to dirt scenario a layoff, more than 58 days in D to T or T to D a layoff, and more than 67 days in a turf to turf deal a L/O. Furthermore, if we amend our selections for a wet track, and the track becomes fast, our original selections are in play.
Race 1 | 1st -Bernietakescharge | 2nd -Waitwaitdonttellme | 3rd -Saratoga Kisses |
#2 BERNIETAKESCHARGE has finished in the back half of the pack in her last pair, but those were more difficult spots, and is now back against Empire bred optional foes, versus whom she got the job done back in December. Slight edge in an opener with no first draft eliminations. #5 WAITWAITDONTTELLME has hit the board in four straight, and jockey/trainer combination made us look like a super genius with a $72 win on Friday. #4 SARAOGA KISSES has been a part of the superfecta in all four starts off a break, and we like that the pre layoff jock comes back today.
Race 2 | 1st -Oh My Mia | 2nd -Will Be Famous | 3rd -She's Always Rosie |
#3 OH MY MIA went to coast to coast like butter and toast in procuring the sheepskin down in Louisville last time out, and although a bounce is always possible off a career best effort, we are betting that the light bulb has come on. From a DRF Formulator point of view, this barn is five for eight with female allowance dirt dashers off a maiden win, and they have a positive ROI in that regards. #6 WILL BE FAMOUS played the fade last time out, but has done her best work at today's distance of ground, and gets some improvement in the irons. #1 SHE'S ALWAYS ROSIE lost by only a length in her lone second off the bench deal, and is another entering today of a lifetime best speed figure. NOTE: AS OF 10:27, DUE TO A KEY LKATE SCRATCH, OUR AMENDED SELECTIONS WILL BE 7-1-8.
Race 3 | 1st -Quiescent | 2nd -Supers Lucky Lady | 3rd -Bella Voce |
We're going to blast off with the 3...2...1... triple in today's third race. #3 QUIESCENT appears to be the speed of this deal, and although she had no palpable excuse for the recent fade, facing winners for the first time is never an easy spot. We'll nibble at what will likely be an improved parimutual offering. #2 SUPERS LUCKY LADY is made available for purchase for the first time, and as she's two of three on the green stuff, we'll include. #1 BELLA VOCE improved by leaps and bounds when picking up the diploma up in Canandaigua County back in June, and $60,000 auction purchase seems properly spotted for today's first try on the lawn. OFF TURF: 4-3-2-6-8
Race 4 | 1st -Courtly Banker | 2nd -The Big Torpedo | 3rd -Fidelightcayut |
#2 COURTLY BANKER has done very little wrong in any start to date, and although he's a maiden facing winners, that doesn't really matter in a race such as this. We like the versatility shown, as his efforts have come under three different sets of circumstances, over three different ovals, beneath three different jockeys. From a trainer stat point of view, Tagg is it when it comes to his male sod stayers off layoffs of 26 to 41 days, who are not receiving Lasix. He's 7:5-0-2 with that sort, and there is a subcategory of two for two w/ungraded runners. #5 THE BIG TORPEDO is an extremely consistent sort with improving turf numbers. Logical contender. #4 FIDELIGHTCAYUT has been a part of the super in his last sextet, and picks up Irad.
Race 5 | 1st -Tommy Two Socks | 2nd -Crusading | 3rd -Iridescent |
#6 TOMMY TWO SOCKS showed zilch in the most recent, but you can be forgiving of that, as this one was up the track in his only other start going two turns. If you want to discount the green debut, then what you have is extremely impressive win in his only other start, which was going one turn on the dirt. Seems properly placed today in a field that does little to get the heart thumping. #2 CRUSADING hasn't been seen since National Hangover Day, and although she is winless with low Beyers, does in fact go 1X on the brown stuff for just the second time, and her pedigree says that she should handle it well. Not hopeless. #7 IRIDESCENT has been kept in jail since the May 12th claim, and now returns right back at that same level. Can land a share.
Race 6 | 1st -Moon Gate | 2nd -Abientot | 3rd -Will Reign |
These three and no more for all our rolling action. #9 MOON GATE gave it the old college try when showing first time out, and draws much better for today's followup. #2 ABIENTOT ( who should be no worse than 3rd here ) finished less than a length behind the above in the aforementioned affair, and slides in five slots off that performance. #5 WILL REIGN has been working quite well in the mornings for today's curtain raiser, but as the pedigree is still unproven, we will leave beneath. OFF TURF: 11(AE)-1-12(MTO)5-6 BEATABLE FAVORITE: #10 BRINDI ( IRE ) doesn't make our first cut, so why would we accept favoritism ?
Race 7 | 1st - Furious Anger | 2nd -Pursuit of Power | 3rd -Own the Field |
#3 FURIOUS ANGER got the job done for all Jules Winfield fans down at CD 26 days back, and returns in a spot not that much tougher than that. Colt went all the way the only time he was in a third off the shelf placement, and a supported by an excellent trainer statistic. Over the last 1,826 days, Romans is a near perfect six of seven with male allowance dirt stock who scored less than 44 days ago at 10-1 or less. The winners returned $6 X 2, $7, $8, $18, and $17. Hoping this one can find the path of righteousness. #5 PURSUIT OF POWER got up in time to pick up his primary win a bit more than a month ago, and makes all kinds of sense once again. #6 OWN THE FIELD has been in the money in five of six, and that includes a placing in his only start on this strip.
Race 8 | 1st -Kosuke | 2nd -Miss Pretender | 3rd -Soca |
#1 KOSUKE hasn't been seen in nearly the full length of a calendar, but completed the triple at 6-1 in his only start on the Inner, and the adjusted number from that day was a quite healthy 87.2. As this one has a "For Sale" sticker attached to her tushy for the first time, you would have to assume all systems will be go. #8 MISS PRETENDER is another one you can buy if you have 30 large, and although we're scratching our heads a bit on the placement here, we'd be remiss in excluding. #5 SOCA was a going away winner on the synthetic down in Hallandale Beach back in March, and as you may know, we feel that translates to the turf quite nicely. OFF TURF: 4-2-14(MTO)-10-11(AE) NOTE: AS OF 10:31, DUE TO A LATE SCRATCH, THE #2 WILL BE OUR 3RD SELECTION.
Race 9 | 1st -Camera | 2nd -Proctor Street | 3rd -Destiny Star |
#11 CAMERA has gotten her Polaroid taken but one time in her five race career, despite being heavily bet in four of those events. She handled the switch over to the green stuff quite nicely last time out, completing the exacta at 12-1, and we like when a trainer is confident enough to make an equipment or medication change after a solid performance. You'll note that blinkers are now a part of the makeup. #1 PROCTOR STREET came from out of the clouds to pick up the lion's share at Indiana Downs at the end of May, and while she may have outran her pedigree that afternoon, we'll include because of the inside draw. #3 DESTINY STAR has a touch of back class, and is as good as any for the show dough. OFF TURF 12(MTO)-5-10-3-1 NOTE: AS OF 6:22 P.M. WEDNESDAY, WE ARE FLIP FLOPPING OUR TOP TWO SELECTIONS.
Race 10 | 1st -Mama's Middie | 2nd -Very Stormy | 3rd - Saka Shocka |
#1 MAMA'S MIDDIE detested going two turns last time out, and is promptly cut back this afternoon by Maker. That just mentioned bossman is on a nifty 6 for 8 run with maiden claiming sand sprinters who missed the money 28 to 50 days in the rear, that are NOT receiving the miracle drug. The winners came back a fat $26, $5, $15 x 2, $16, and $6, and it's encouraging to see Jose Ortiz get the call. #8 VERY STORMY outran his odds quite nicely when finishing third at 34-1 in the June 27th bow, and is logical once again. #6 SAKA SHOCKA takes the biggest drop in the game today, and although we feel he'll be over bet, must incorporate nonetheless.
